1. Who we are
SmartArticleBot (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is an AI-powered SEO content platform operated at smartarticlebot.com. This policy explains how we collect and use your data when you use our service.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: Your name, email address, and profile information when you sign up via Clerk.
- Site data: The website URL(s) you connect to the platform. We crawl your site to generate keyword plans and articles.
- CMS credentials: WordPress or Shopify credentials you provide to enable automated publishing. These are encrypted using AES-256-GCM and never stored in plain text.
- Usage data: Actions taken within the dashboard, article pipeline logs, and error events sent to Sentry for debugging.
- Billing data: Payment is processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID but never your full card details.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the service — crawling your site, generating keyword plans, writing and publishing articles.
- To send transactional emails (e.g., keyword plan ready, weekly digest) via Resend.
- To process subscription payments via Stripe.
- To monitor and fix errors using Sentry.
- To improve the product based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to train AI models.

5. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate data (e.g., total articles published) may be retained for analytics.
6. Security
CMS credentials are encrypted at the application layer before database storage and decrypted only at publish time. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We use row-level security in our database so users can only access their own data.
7. Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correct inaccurate data, or request deletion by emailing us at hello@help.smartarticlebot.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
We use session cookies required for authentication (managed by Clerk). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
